Moving to Mauritius from South Africa? Here’s a step-by-step guide to converting your South African motor car driver’s license to a Mauritian driver’s license.

Step 1: Obtain Your Driver’s License Attestation Letter from South Africa
Request the Attestation Letter
Email: dlconfirmations@rtmc.co.za
State that you need the attestation letter for conversion to a Mauritian license.
Attach the Following Documents:
A clear scan of the front and back of your South African driver’s license
A copy of your South African ID card
The completed application form: DL Confirmation Application Form (PDF)
Processing Time
The response can take from 1 week to 3 months.
Collection and Courier
The attestation letter must be collected in Midrand, South Africa, and couriered to Mauritius.
(Optional) You can use a service provider for collection and courier. One such provider charges R1000 plus courier fees. (Contact details available on request.)
Step 2: Submit Your Application to the Mauritian
Licensing Department
Prepare the Following Documents:
Copy of both sides of your South African driver’s license
Copy of your Mauritius Residence or Work Permit
Copy of your Mauritian National Identity Card
Copy of your passport’s biodata page and date of arrival in Mauritius
Proof of address in Mauritius

Your Mauritian driver’s license will be ready for collection exactly one month after submitting your original documents.
